Whether treating digestive disorders or emotional dysfunction the belly deserves a good look. In particular, the complex network of connective tissues, which supports the abdominal organs and conveys the autonomic nerves and blood supply to the viscera needs to be understood. The gut is also crucial to our emotional responses, as our gut feelings underpin the “Social Nervous System”.
The weekend will include the embryology of the peritoneum and mesenteries, the impact of adhesions – highlighting post-operative care, the abdominal sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve supply and visceral facilitation, emotional dysregulation and the abdominal autonomics, visceral autonomics in the context of social engagement and dynamic hands-on approaches for working with abdominal issues. Open to craniosacral therapists and cranial osteopaths.
Katherine Ukleja graduated in osteopathy and then qualified as a Craniosacral Therapist. Her extensive craniosacral training began in 1987 and gradually led her to studying with Franklyn Sills. She is a Course-Coordinator at the Karuna Institute and Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust. She also regularly teaches in Switzerland, Russia and the U.S.A.
